Weekly Lookahead Feb 6-15, 2026
Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser:
The Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness… because it’s cold out there. Save the date and join members of the Ottawa Voyageurs for a 2 km or 5 km walk on the evening of Sat. February 28, 2026. This event starts at 4 pm at the Rogers Centre, 55 Colonel By Dr.
We have set up an Ottawa Voyageurs team, and we hope that many of our club members will join us in both walking and fundraising. It would make it a lot of fun! The Club has sent a donation of $150 to start off our fundraising efforts. Club members, their families, and friends, are invited to participate by donating to the fundraiser. More information and how to donate to our Ottawa Voyageurs team: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?teamID=1041301

Location: Convent Glen Esso Gas Station, 6481 Jeanne d'Arc Blvd, Orleans
Start Time: 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start
Route: Volunteers will break into two groups with a group walking on each sides of Jeanne d’Arc Blvd picking up litter from the Esso Gas station west to the intersection with the Hwy 174. For the return to the Esso gas station groups will switch sides and check for litter on the way back.
Please Bring: Gardening gloves, and a pail. The club will have garbage bags and a number of litter pickers but if you have your own please bring it.
Social: Volunteers will decide where they want go for brunch/lunch. One lucky volunteer will be reimbursed for their lunch by the club.
As a newer member of the Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club, you may wonder "Why" does the club participate in this activity? Since 2006 the Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club has participated the City of Ottawa Adopt a Road program. The Club adopted the section of Jeanne d’Arc Blvd from the Esso Gas station west to the intersection with the Hwy 174. You can see our Adopt-A-Road signage on the light standard just above the crossing signals on the opposite side of Orleans Blvd from the Esso Gas station. This initiative was started by Benoît Pinsonneault when he was Club President as a way of giving back to the community. Part of the adoption is to participate in the Cleaning the Capital once in the Spring and again in the Fall. More details on how to participate are listed below on May 3rd.
Note: the local City Councillor, Laura Dudas, will be there to welcome us at 8:45 am on Sunday morning.
