IVV World Walking Day / Ottawa Walking Day - Sunday, May 8, 2016

5 & 10k Walking Events / 20k Cycle Events

Come join us for the opening of the Ottawa Voyageurs d’Ottawa new Permanent Trails #355 and #356 in Greely. There will be two Map Walks (5k - 10k) and one guided Cycle Event (20k) in the morning and afternoon. All routes will be different.

Start Point: Greely West Park, 6485 Greely West Drive, Greely

Registration: Participants may sign up for one event in the morning and/or one in the afternoon. ALL participants are encouraged to start their registration online. You are encouraged to register online, then you can do the EXPRESS pay with Jane. Onsite registration will be available.

Proposed schedule for the day:

9:30-10:00: Registration for 10k walk (#1), 20k guided cycle event (#1)
10:30-11:00: Registration for 5k walk (1)
12:00-13:00: [Weather permitting] Lunch in Greely West park - bring a chair and a picnic lunch.
12:00-13:30: [Inclement weather] Lunch at Hardstones Grill (or other) in Manotick. As it is also Mother’s Day, it may be difficult to reserve seats for a large group.
13:00-14:00: Registration for 5k or 10k walk (#2), 20k guided cycle event (#2)

(i) From Manotick - east on Bridge Street, cross River Rd, continue on Mitch Owens Rd to Stagecoach Rd. Right on Stagecoach Rd. to Greely West Drive (4th street on right). Right on Greely West Drive to the park.

(ii) From Orléans: West on Hwy 174 to Hwy 417 South (Montréal). Exit at Hunt Club Rd. Continue west to Bank St. At Bank St, turn left to Albion Rd. (Shell Station on right at corner). Turn right on Albion and continue past the Rideau Carleton Raceway to Mitch Owens Rd. (T-junction). Turn right to Stagecoach Rd. Turn left on Stagecoach Rd. to Greely West Drive (4th street on right). Turn right on Greely West to park.

Fees: Participants may do so for free. IVV credit for walk or cycle event is $2.00 each.

Parking: the lot in the park is quite small, so it is perfectly acceptable to park on the gravel edge along either sides of Greely West Drive or Waddion Drive, just around the corner.

Cycle Event: if necessary, a road-only route will be followed as the Osgoode-Leitrim Trail may be a bit muddy due to recent rains.
