Start Point: Lowertown Pool, 40 Cobourg St., Ottawa
Start Time: Registration will be from 9:45-10:00 a.m. Group walks start at 10:00.

  • Ensure boots can be done up properly to provide foot stability.
  • Ice grippers on footwear can help you walk on hard packed snow and ice. But be careful! Grippers become dangerously slippery and must be removed before walking on smooth surfaces like stone or tile.
  • Use a cane, a pair of ski poles or walking sticks to help with balance

Cleaning the Capital - Spring

Location: UltraMar Gas Station at the corner of Orléans Blvd and Jeanne D'Arc Blvd (North - home of the UltraMar PT).
Time: Meet at 9:00 hrs.
Equipment: Please bring your own gardening gloves, plastic pail, pick-up stick (if you have one) masks and hand sanitizer

Walkers will receive 5 km in their distance books and an event stamp.

Winterlude 2023 CVF 16045

Date: Sunday 5 Feb 2023 (Please note change from original date of 4 Feb)
Join the Ottawa Voyageurs on this first weekend of Winterlude 2023. After a couple of Arctic days, it looks like we will have a lovely day for our walk on Sunday afternoon

You will be walking on some snow covered paths so please wear appropriate footwear as there could be some icy/slippery spots.

Location: Upper floor of the Market Building, 55 Byward Market Square
Registration: 1-1:15PM for the 10km walkers and 1:15-1:30PM for the 5km walkers. Group walk starts at 1:30 PM
Cost: $2 for everyone
Distance: 5km and 10km, routes are attached
IVV Credit: Event Labels will be available when you register
Washrooms: available near the registration area as well as several locations on the routes
Parking: Limited free parking in the Byward Market and on side streets (Cumberland St north of St Patrick, Guiges, St Andrew and Bruyere - north of St Patrick, east of Parent St), and a number of paid parking garages in the area. Transit: Another option is to take the LRT to Rideau and walk across the street (free for seniors on Sunday)

All three routes take you along the shore of the Rideau River, past various parks, through the Ottawa East neighbourhood and along the Rideau Canal before passing through part of uOttawa. Note: The paths connecting the streets along the Rideau River are well-traveled but snow-covered so be aware of possible uneven areas and slippery spots.

Distances: The group walk will be either 6 and 10 km route however for those who would like something shorter, I have attached a 5km route (all will start from the same location)
